Pure Casino Lethbridge is the smallest of the four Pure properties and the only real casino floor in southern Alberta outside the racing venues. That combination sets the terms: modest by provincial standards, and the only game in town for a very large catchment.
It holds a 4.0 rating from more than 1,700 Google reviewers, and unlike its Edmonton and Calgary siblings it does not run 24 hours — the floor is open 8:00am to 5:00am daily.
The floor
427 slot machines and 11 live-action table games, of which nine are the standard pit and two are poker tables running both cash games and tournaments.
Four hundred machines is half what the big-city Pure rooms carry, and you should calibrate for that. What you get in exchange is a floor that is never uncomfortably busy and staff who are not managing a crowd.
The two poker tables are the detail worth planning around. This is not a poker room in the Edmonton or Calgary sense — it is two tables, and whether a game is running depends on the night. Tournaments are the more reliable option here than cash. Check the schedule before driving in for cards.
The 5:00am close
Nineteen hours a day, closing at 5:00am and reopening at 8:00am. In practice that is close to always open, and the 8:00am start is earlier than most Alberta rooms manage.
Getting there
3756 2 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with free parking. That puts it roughly two hours south of Calgary and a little over an hour from the Montana border, serving Lethbridge, Medicine Hat's western side, and the small communities across the south.
Like the rest of the Pure chain it changed hands in December 2024, bought by Indigenous Gaming Partners, a company formed by five Nova Scotia Mi'kmaw First Nations.
The rural volunteer problem
Alberta's charitable gaming model asks licensed non-profits to staff casino events in person, and charities are assigned to their nearest facility. In the cities that means a short drive. In southern Alberta it does not.
Groups from the small communities this room serves can face hours of travel each way to work their event, and rural municipalities have raised it with the province repeatedly as an equity issue in the model. It is worth knowing that the people running the chip bank on a Tuesday may have driven a long way to be there.
Worth it?
For southern Alberta, yes, because the alternative is a two-hour drive to Calgary. Eleven tables and 427 machines is a genuine casino, the hours are long, and it is comfortable.
For anyone with Calgary or Edmonton in reach, no. Pure Casino Calgary has double the machines, nearly triple the tables and round-the-clock poker. Lethbridge is a regional room and does not pretend otherwise.
For racing instead, Bullys Casino is also in Lethbridge.
