Unlike the reserve-sited properties operating under the First Nations Gaming Policy, this is a commercial facility in the city of Red Deer that happens to be Nation-owned, so it runs under the same charitable-event model as any other Alberta commercial casino.
Worth it?
For poker in central Alberta, unreservedly — eight tables with no competitor for two hours in any direction.
For a stay, yes, and it is the best-value casino hotel in the province on room rate.
For the gaming floor alone, no. Three hundred and forty-nine machines and twelve tables is small, and if you are driving past on the QEII with gambling as the only goal, the Edmonton and Calgary rooms are two to three times the size at either end of the same highway.
